The president reminded them the importance to observe the Deontological Code of a Judge and, first of all, in relation with the sides in a trial.
In his speech to the members of the Council, the president stressed the importance of the justice reform in the process of edifying a democratic state, in which human rights are observed.
Nicolae Timofti voiced concern about cases of violation of human rights in the Transnistrian region, which is out of the Moldovan constitutional authorities’ control. „The rights of citizens to free movement, fair justice are infringed in the Transnistrian region, as well as the right of Moldovan citizens to learn in the Romanian language,” Timofti said.
The president informed the foreign diplomats on the European integration process of Moldova and its modernisation reforms. The talks were focused also on the complicated situation in the region where Moldova is positioned.
Nicolae Timofti expressed belief that, despite external pressures that aimed at diverting Moldova from its European agenda, Moldova would sign the Association Agreement with the European Union in 2014.
Foreign Minister Martin Lidegaard said his visit to Chisinau was a gesture of solidarity with Moldova in the current tense regional context.
