Ladies and gentlemen,
President Costa, President von der Leyen — thank you.
Thank you for the welcome, and for a summit that carries our partnership forward. Our joint declaration is clear: Moldova's future is within the European Union.
Dear Commissioner Kos,
Dear Prime Minister,
Excellencies,
Dear partners and investors,
Welcome to Chișinău, and welcome to the EU–Moldova Investment Conference.
President Metsola,
President von der Leyen,
Distinguished laureates,
Honorable members of the European Parliament,
Secretary General Alain Berset,
Ministers,
Distinguished guests,
Welcome to Chișinău.
It is an honour to open this session here, in Moldova's capital. Moldova is a country that spent many years looking towards Europe — for guidance, for belonging. Today, Europe meets here. In our home.
Holding the Presidency of the Committee of Ministers has been a responsibility we took seriously.
President Zelenskyy,
Excellencies,
We are standing on ground that changed the world. And we all know why.
President Zelenskyy, Thank you for receiving me in Kyiv. I am always moved to be in this city — a city that has shown the world what it means to refuse to be broken. I am here this morning knowing that the other night, Russia struck again — in Dnipro, in cities across Ukraine. People were killed in their homes.
