President Maia Sandu’s message at the commemoration ceremony of the Chernobyl nuclear disaster
President Zelenskyy,
Excellencies,
We are standing on ground that changed the world. And we all know why.
President Zelenskyy,
Excellencies,
We are standing on ground that changed the world. And we all know why.
President Zelenskyy, Thank you for receiving me in Kyiv. I am always moved to be in this city — a city that has shown the world what it means to refuse to be broken. I am here this morning knowing that the other night, Russia struck again — in Dnipro, in cities across Ukraine. People were killed in their homes.
Dzimtā valoda ir māte, māte Dzimtā valodā vīns vēl saldāks Dzimtā valodā pasmejies pie sevis pats.
In your own tongue you long for your mother. The wine is more wine. The bread is more bread. And only in your own tongue can you laugh to yourself — or stop your weeping.
You will recognise these words. But they were not written in Latvian.
They were written in Romanian.
În limba ta ți-e dor de mama, și vinul e mai vin, și prânzul e mai prânz. Și doar în limba ta poți râde singur, și doar în limba ta te poți opri din plâns.
President Rinkēvičs, dear Edgars,
Thank you for the invitation to come to Riga. Latvia is a country Moldova feels close to — not just as a partner, but as a country that walked a path we are walking now. You know what it takes. And you have been generous in helping us get there.
Your Excellency, President Pellegrini,
Distinguished business leaders, dear friends,
Welcome to the Moldova–Slovakia Business Forum. Mr President and I had productive political meetings earlier today. The dialogue is strong, the will is there on both sides.
Your Excellency, President Pellegrini,
Thank you for your kind invitation. I am pleased to be here in Bratislava.
This year, we celebrate 33 years of diplomatic relations. Three decades of cooperation and mutual respect. And I am glad to say: our partnership is solid.
