Dear President Zelenskyy,
Ladies and gentlemen,
I remember that morning three years ago. 4 a.m. I read the news in horror. I got up, went to the office, and from there, I heard the bombs exploding. Odesa… or maybe Vinnytsia. At that moment, we didn’t know where the next bomb would fall.
But we know this now: Ukraine’s courage has kept Moldova safe and at peace.
The bravery and sacrifice of the Ukrainian people shielded us from war. We will always be grateful. We will never forget.
Three years on, Russia’s brutal, criminal war continues. The Kremlin’s aggression has brought suffering and devastation on a scale Europe has not seen since World War II. Just yesterday, Ukraine endured the largest drone attack since the start of the war.
Russia is not looking for peace—yet the world speaks of peace. But peace must be just, lasting, and real. A flawed peace, one that ignores Ukraine’s security or sidelines Europe, will not end the threat—it will only delay it. A fake peace—one that lets Putin regroup, rearm, and invade again—is not peace.
That is why we must stand together. Russia’s goal is division—between allies, between countries, within societies. Instead, we must stand united.
Security guarantees are key to making sure history does not repeat itself. That Putin can never deceive the world again. That Russia will no longer bring death to other nations. The world needs real security guarantees—clear, strong, and enforceable.
Moldova supports these efforts. We stand with Ukraine in securing concrete guarantees that will ensure lasting peace. We support measures that strengthen Ukraine’s security and prevent future aggression. This is not just about Ukraine—it is about all of us.
And let me be clear: Putin will not stop at Ukraine.
That is why our response must be firm, our support unwavering. Because Ukraine is not just fighting for itself—it is fighting for all of us.
And while Ukraine stands, Moldova stands, Europe stands.
Let us make sure we are standing up—not standing by.
Moldova stands with Ukraine. Moldova stands with freedom. And together, we will spare no effort for real peace to prevail.
