President Nicolae Timofti, on a visit to Turkey, today met his Turkish counterpart Abdullah Gul at the presidential palace in Ankara.
Upon his arrival in Ankara on 17 December evening, President Nicolae Timofti visited the embassy of Moldova, where he met Ambassador Igor Bolboceanu and the members of the diplomatic mission. The head of state also awarded the Order of Honour to Turkish MP Ismail Safi.
The ambassadors congratulated Nicolae Timofti on the initialling of the Association Agreement with the EU, and welcomed Moldova’s joining the values of the western civilisation.
President Nicolae Timofti today signed a decree on awarding the order “Credinta Patriei” (Order of Allegiance to Motherland) of the third degree to the officers of the National Anticorruption Centre who investigated corruption-related files at the Leuseni-Albita Customs Office, as well as in the justice sector, the presidential press service has reported.
Nicolae Timofti welcomed the publication of the book, stressing the importance of the memories of the first Moldovan president for the next generations.
U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry, on an official visit to Moldova, today was received at the State Residence by the Moldovan leadership, headed by President Nicolae Timofti, Parliament Speaker Igor Corman and Prime Minister Iurie Leanca.
