President Nicolae Timofti signs national accountability pact for European Moldova
President Nicolae Timofti today signed the National Accountability Pact for a European Moldova. The document, proposed for signing to all the pro-European political forces and the civil society, appeals to the cohesion of the entire society, with a view to achieving the strategic goal of joining the European Union, the presidency's press service has reported.
"I signed the agreement with a firm confidence that the process of European integration has no alternative. This project gives us a clear prospect for the development and modernisation of the country. The Eastern Partnership Summit in Vilnius is a historical opportunity that will determine the future of Moldova. I welcome the maturity of representatives of the political class and civil society who signed this convention and committed to support Moldova’s European transformation reforms", said President Nicolae Timofti.
The National Accountability Pact for a European Moldova, launched by the Liberal Democratic Party (PLDM) on 18 November, so far has been signed by Parliament Speaker Igor Corman, Prime Minister Iurie Leanca, Foreign and European Integration Minister Natalia Gherman, the leaders of the pro-European coalition - Vlad Filat (Liberal Democratic Party), Marian Lupu (Democratic Party), Ion Hadarca (Liberal Reformist MPs group). Former presidents Mircea Snegur and Petru Lucinschi, as well as representatives of political parties and civil society have also signed the document.
