President Nicolae Timofti today met Romanian Foreign Ministry’s Minister Delegate for Relations with Romanians Abroad Angel Talvar.
The talks were focused on fostering cooperation in all areas, due to the common language, history, culture and traditions, shared by Moldova and Romania.
The president welcomed the boosting of the bilateral dialogue in recent years, in the spirit of a special relation between the two countries, pointing out that Romania was the main supporter of Moldova's European integration.
President Nicolae Timofti thanked the Romanian official for the financial and logistic support provided by the Romanian authorities to carry out numerous projects to modernise infrastructure, education and cultural projects in Moldova.
Minister Delegate for Relations with Romanians Abroad Angel Talvar reiterated the Bucharest-based authorities’ support for Moldova's European integration.
Angel Talvar informed the president about the Romanian side’s commitment to facilitate academic exchanges and provide cultural and professional training educational programmes. The minister’s agenda also includes signing a new protocol on cooperation between the two education ministries.
The minister delegate for relations with Romanians abroad said that supplementing the collections of Romanian books in libraries, as well as developing and consolidating Romanian language media in Moldova was a priority.
Nicolae Timofti and Angel Talvar also discussed other issues of common interest.
