Moldovan President thanked his Turkmenistan counterpart for the invitation to the opening ceremony of the 5th Asian Indoor Games and Martial Arts, noting that this is a sign of high attention from the Turkmen Government to the development of bilateral relations between our countries.
Igor Dodon noted the symbolic connotation of the meeting on the eve of the 25th anniversary from the establishment of diplomatic relations between Moldova and Turkmenistan, the time during which the two countries could strengthen bilateral relations, which constitute a solid basis for comprehensive cooperation between the two countries and peoples.
The head of the state thanked the Turkmen leader for the prompt and high-quality implementation by the Turkmen side of the construction of a kindergarten in Chishmikoy, and noted that he is considering the completion of this significant social project, and, at the same time, other projects as an important contribution to the development of interstate and humanitarian relations.
The Moldovan President underlined that there is a great potential for cooperation between the Republic of Moldova and Turkmenistan, that has not been used to the full extent, expressing interest in expanding the volumes and range of exported and imported goods and establishing supply channels for products for a long-term basis.
In this context, the sides agreed on deepening cooperation in various fields - economic, social, and humanitarian, etc.
Igor Dodon highly appreciated Turkmenistan's foreign policy strategy, based on the principle of permanent neutrality, recognized on December 12, 1995 at the level of the UN General Assembly, noting that the experience of Turkmenistan in promoting and strengthening the principle of permanent neutrality is of particular interest for Moldova in the current conditions.
The President of Moldova said that next year, under the aegis of the President of Moldova, will be launched the national project for the construction of 100 sports complexes in rural areas, which will include football fields, basketball, volleyball and athletics fields and appealed to the President of Turkmenistan with a request for support in the implementation of this project.
As a sign of the high recognition of excellence in the development and deepening of constructive and comprehensive interstate cooperation between Turkmenistan and Moldova in various areas, the President of Turkmenistan, Mr. Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, was awarded by the President of Moldova, Igor Dodon, with the highest order „Order of the Republic”.
The highest state award of the Republic of Moldova was awarded to the President of Turkmenistan in December, 2016.
