President Nicolae Timofti met the Bucharest-based Norwegian Ambassador to Moldova, Oystein Hovdkinn

President Nicolae Timofti met today, today, 15 July current year, the Bucharest-based Norwegian Ambassador to Moldova, Oystein Hovdkinn, on the occasion of completion of his diplomatic mission to our country.

The head of state thanked Oystein Hovdkinn for his contribution to the development of the bilateral ties, referring in particular to boosting political and economic cooperation, as well as for the annual 4-million-euros-worth technical assistance provided to Moldova by Norway.

Nicolae Timofti appreciated the visas policy promoted by the Oslo authorities via Norway joining the Common Visa Issuance Centre headquartered at the Hungarian Embassy in Chisinau on 1 October 2012.

During the meeting, President Nicolae Timofti reaffirmed the Moldovan authorities’ decision to continue the path of European integration of the Republic of Moldova. “The initialing of the Association Agreement with the European Union at the Eastern Partnership Summit due in Vilnius next November will be an important step to this end,” the head of state said.

The two officials reiterated both sides’ interest to boost the bilateral economic relations. President Nicolae Timofti stressed that the Chisinau authorities are undertaking the required actions to ensure an attractive climate for foreign investors.

For his part, Ambassador Oystein Hovdkinn welcomed the progress made by the Republic of Moldova in the promoting of institutional reforms. The diplomat assured Nicolae Timofti of the support Norway is to give Moldova to adjust to the EU values.
