The President of the Republic of Moldova Igor Dodon had his first working meeting with the new Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany in our country, Angela Ganninger.
The head of state congratulated the German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier on the occasion of the National Day – German Unity Day. Igor Dodon thanked the country's leaders for the constant and multilateral support offered to Moldova in the implementation of reforms and the modernization process.
The head of our state also stressed that Germany was a strategic partner of the Republic of Moldova, and the cooperation relations between our countries were developing successfully in all areas of common interest.
In the course of the dialogue, Igor Dodon told the head of the diplomatic mission of Germany about the situation in the home policy of the Republic of Moldova in the context of the forthcoming parliamentary elections. At the same time, the parties discussed the essence of the strategic objective of the Moldovan Presidency – the realization of a balanced foreign policy based on the national interests of the country.
The interlocutors also addressed the current situation and prospects of settling the Transnistrian conflict. In the context, Igor Dodon and Angela Ganninger were unanimous in their view of importance of the OSCE as one of the main negotiating platforms and highly appreciated the German diplomacy for active involvement in the settlement process.
